Frisco Wins Tight Game, Remains Undefeated on August 13th: Frisco scored 2 runs in the 5th inning on a 1 out single by Jose Felix and that was all they needed in a 2-1 victory over the Tulsa Drillers. Frisco came into play on Saturday 8-0 in franchise history on August 13th and did not tarnish the record with the win to move to 9-0 all-time.

Pimentel's Short Start: Carlos Pimentel started for Frisco and looked good through the first couple innings. However, he seemed to have hurt himself making a pitch and came out after just 3 innings. In the 3 innings, Pimentel gave up 1 hit and struck out 4 while he threw 34 of 50 pitches for strikes.

Inning By Inning Count

1: 24 Pitches- 15 Strikes- 4 Called- 5 Swinging- 3 Fouls- 8 Balls- 3 BPIP- 1 HBP- 1 Swinging K- 1 Hit
2: 12 Pitches- 8 Strikes- 2 Called- 0 Swinging- 4 Fouls- 4 Balls- 2 BPIP- 1 Swinging K
3: 14 Pitches- 11 Strikes- 3 Called- 4 Swinging- 3 Fouls- 3 Balls- 1 BPIP- 2 Swinging K

Total: 50 Pitches- 34 Strikes- 9 Called- 9 Swinging- 10 Fouls- 15 Balls- 6 BPIP- 1 HBP- 4 Swinging K- 1 Hit

Pitching Dominates: Both sides displayed tremendous pitching on Saturday night and at one point both sides combined to retire 21 batters in a row spanning from the 1st inning after the leadoff double and hit by pitch through the top of the 4th inning. Carlos Pimentel and Adalberto Flores at one point combined to retire 18 in a row before Justin Miller gave up a homerun to the first batter he faced, Ben Paulsen, in the top of the 7th inning. In all Frisco and Tulsa's pitchers combined for 21 strikeouts and just 1 walk in the game, including 14 strikeouts and 0 walks by Frisco RoughRider's pitchers, which is a season best ratio for Frisco.

Felix's Game Winning Hit: Jose Felix hasn't had a ton of chances to be the hero this season, but on Saturday it was his 1 out 2 RBI single up the middle that was the difference in the game. It represented Felix's 26th and 27th RBIs on the season, although the catcher was out trying to advance to second on the throw. It was Felix's 7th multi RBI game this season.

Flores At his Best: Adalberto Flores had batters swinging at his curveball in his three innings and they seemed to have no chance. Flores pitched a crucial 3 innings of relief and was as good as he's ever been for Frisco. Flores didn't allow a baserunner and struck out 5 batters through 3 shutout innings of relief. He lowered his season ERA to 2.69 and picked up his 4th win of the season.

Riders Attendance: Frisco had 10,216 on Saturday marking the first time that Frisco has had over 10,000 since July 23rd this season. Frisco went 12 games between the 10,000 mark, which was the first time this season that they went a weekend without having over 10,000.

Tracking Texas League Homeruns: 885 homeruns in 938 games (0.943 HR/G)

Term of the Day: Draw a Throw- To make a fielder throw to a base; e.g., a runner at first base takes a large lead so that he can study the move of a pitcher with whom he is not familiar, or a baserunner pretends to advance to another base, forcing the pitcher to make a throw. The gist of this strategy is to give the fielder the impression that he can get the runner out.

Last Year on This Date: Frisco lost 4-1 to the Tulsa Drillers at home. Erasmo Ramirez started for Frisco and gave up 4 hits and 1 run over 3 innings with 2 strikeouts and 0 walks. Chris Mobley and Mark Hamburger combined for 5 shutout innings of relief. Tyler Tufts took the loss after giving up 3 runs in 2 innings of relief. Stu Pomeranz, the brother of Drew Pomeranz, who will be with Tulsa soon, earned the save in Tulsa's win. Joey Butler led Frisco's offense with a 2 for 4 game including a solo homerun. Jose Felix went 2 for 3 with a double. Davis Stoneburner and Renny Osuna each added a hit.

As always...
